Hi, I’m Dean Harris, the author of Think Less! Golf! and a passionate golfer.
I’ve been playing golf since 2006, although I took a couple of years off when my two young children were born and restarted again after the pandemic in 2021. Now I am working on getting my son out on the course when I play too.
Golf has always been a huge part of my life, whether I’m playing with friends, family or competing in tournaments. Over the years, I noticed how differently people react to their shots, good or bad, and it helped me realise just how much a round of golf is played mentally as well as physically.
In 2023, I started reading golf mentality books written by a sports psychologist who worked with professional players. While these books were insightful, I realized they didn’t address the struggles of amateur golfers – players like me, who are lucky to get out on the course or practice once a week due to work or family commitments.
That’s where Think Less! Golf! was devised. It’s a book inspired by my own experiences, my passion for the game, and the lessons I’ve learned about mindset. I know firsthand how mental obstacles can affect performance – I still haven’t replaced the 6-iron I owned as a reminder of a particularly frustrating round ended with it wrapped around a tree. Those were not my best times.
Now, with the Think Less! Golf! approach, I play with a more relaxed mindset, leading to better performance and greater enjoyment, and my goal is to share this with the global golfing community, helping others improve their mindset, lower their handicaps, and most importantly, enjoy the game more.
Play golf! Love golf! Think Less! Golf!
